NASA is now preparing for an ambitious new era of sustainable human spaceflight and discovery. The agency is building the Space Launch System rocket and the Orion spacecraft for human deep space exploration.

Among the many science accomplishments for the year, NASA continued preparations to launch the James Webb Space Telescope on Dec. 24 from French Guiana, successfully landed the Perseverance rover on the surface of Mars, and piloted the Ingenuity Mars Helicopter – the first powered, controlled flight on another planet.
Is NASA still in operation?
Though the U.S. space agency is now without its own means of transporting people to space, it does have some plans in the works. "Don't be misled into thinking we have left human spaceflight," NASA chief Charlie Bolden told reporters today while standing next to the newly returned shuttle Atlantis.
Is Mars 2020 still happening?
Perseverance successfully landed on the surface of Mars with help of the skycrane on 18 February 2021 at 20:55 UTC, to begin its science phase, and began sending images back to Earth. Ingenuity reported back to NASA via the communications systems on Perseverance the following day, confirming its status.
